Brainstorm was selected as one of the top 50 SMEs in Spain by Spanish magazine Emprendedores (Entrepreneurs) in 2009. Criteria for inclusion in the Emprendedores top 50 included innovation, internationalisation, involvement in major projects despite the crisis, diversification and having clear business models.
Brainstorm also won the 2009 Berlanga Award for Technological Innovation granted by the International Co-production Forum of Valencia and was named 2009 European Business of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce of Valencia for participation and leadership in European Union projects Replay and Elder Games.
Replay is a gaming technology platform for social reintegration of marginalised youth. The vision of Replay is to use this technology as a means of motivating young people into a better awareness of how and why they behave the way they do and to encourage them to take greater responsibility for the consequences of their decisions and behaviour. This European Commission funded project is lead and co-ordinated by Brainstorm and is already demonstrating considerable success.
ElderGames has the objective of designing and developing a unique application to explore how new and emerging advances in information and communication technologies can be adapted, applied and combined with play/leisure activities to improve the health, welfare and quality of life for Europe’s growing elderly population. At the same time it aims to provide experts specialising in elderly care and supervision with an innovative application which they can use to monitor and improve the quality of the care they deliver.
“We are very happy with the level of recognition and awards we have been receiving,” said Ricardo Montesa, Brainstorm CEO. “While we are having significant successes internationally, with our software relied on every day by a growing number of broadcasters worldwide for all types of real-time 3D graphics, what is less widely known is our participation in and dedication to a number of projects such as Replay and ElderGames, where we work with like-minded organisations to redeploy our technology with the aim of benefitting society.”
With over 15 years of development, Brainstorm’s real-time 3D graphics engine eStudio is the fastest on the market. Used by many of the world’s leading broadcasters to power all their real- time 3D graphics, including News, Elections, Sports and virtual studios, the power and unique versatility of eStudio also make it ideal for real-time 3D applications outside the broadcast environment.
