Brainstorm, leading manufacturer of real-time 3D graphics and virtual studio solutions, and Storm Broadcast, the company’s reseller for UK and Ireland, announce the acquisition of another two Aston systems by Input Media, one of Europe’s leading Sports production companies. Aston is Brainstorm’s advanced motion graphics creation, CG and playout system, and Input Media has a long-standing record of using Aston for graphics creation and CG, so this continued support shows the ability of the product to fulfil any kind of requirement for graphics, especially in high-pressure live environments.
Input Media has a long history of using Aston to produce advanced graphics and animations for a number of sports applications, including the English Football League, the FA Cup, horseracing, tennis and many more. The variety of on screen graphic kits created by Input Media for some of the main UK and European Sports providers proves once again the power and flexibility of Aston to perform in any kind of data-driven graphics environment.
Aston is a designer-oriented solution, featuring advanced tools and object properties such as high-end 2D and 3D textures and materials, shaders, bump mapping or advanced 3D shadows to name a few. Aston’s graphics management is based on “SmartTemplates” that vastly outperform the traditional page-based creation systems. Based on these editable templates, Aston renders graphics in real time, as they are played out, so just the templates are stored and the graphics are rendered and delivered in real time. Furthermore, Aston takes advantage of StormLogic, Brainstorm’s approach to intuitive template interaction with advanced object-based animation, allowing for building complex animations and interactions between elements with no need of scripting.
“Input Media is the best proof that Aston can easily perform in any kind of graphics environment, from standard graphics creation to CG and even playout. Motion and data-driven graphics are essential in today’s broadcast market, and Aston is the perfect solution to cope with any kind of graphic for any kind of environment, including collaborative workflows and high-end graphics applications” says Paul Vanlint, Director of Storm Broadcast.
According to Nick Symes, Input Media’s Director of Technology, “Aston is a very flexible and powerful graphics engine that allows our designers to create amazing on screen graphics for a variety of sport applications, both live and for in stadium screen production. That combined with the use of robust data integration enables us to provide our customers with state-of-the-art graphics and animations that enhance their production. The speed and flexibility of the engine means that virtually any graphics requirement can be fulfilled with Aston, even for CG and playout applications if required. Our systems are on air 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year.”
