Brainstorm announces today the direct integration on InfinitySet with Sony’s BRC camera line-up, including the BRC-H800 and BRC-X1000. This integration provides state-of-the-art Augmented Reality (AR) and virtual set applications with the combination of Brainstorm’s legendary virtual set and AR experience with Sony’s cost-effective and easy-to-use PTZ cameras.

InfinitySet can receive the video and tracking information from the Sony cameras and render the virtual scene or the AR objects in real-time, even using photorealistic rendering and Unreal Engine, which creates a stunning visual experience for the viewers, affordable at the same time for any kind of production facility or broadcaster. On top of that, Brainstorm allows the Sony camera remote control RM-IP500 to direct InfinitySet’s virtual cameras. InfinitySet is the only virtual set and AR solution that allows this feature, allowing operators to run complex 3D virtual scenery in a familiar production environment.

In combination with InfinitySet, the BRC-H800 and X1000 are a powerful solution for enhancing storytelling and providing in-context AR graphics from external data sources, due to the advanced features of InfintySet, resulting from Brainstorm’s experience of more than 25 years in the development of real-time 3D graphics, virtual set and augmented reality solutions. The resulting workflow brings advanced AR to companies of any size and budget, by providing a PTZ tracking workflow that avoids the hassle of more complex tracking systems.

“Many of our products and solutions are built with modality and integration in mind so we’re always delighted to see them integrated in new and innovative workflows that broaden creative possibilities for producers and operators. Brainstorm has a series of truly distinctive software for virtual and AR set ups and we’re glad to be partnering with them here”, commented Norbert Paquet, Head of Live Production, Sony Professional Europe.

According to Thierry Gonzalo, Brainstorm’s Product Manager, “Our seamless integration with the Sony BRC camera line-up provides companies of any size to accomplish projects involving virtual sets and AR requirements, by using the PTZ tracking data and exceptional image quality from such cameras. Also, our ability to allow the Sony camera control to command InfinitySet’s production mode permits live production operators with no experience in virtual environments to run any virtual or AR show with total ease”.

Brainstorm and Sony will demonstrate this integration in a public webinar scheduled for March 5th, 2021, so anyone that wants to know more about this advanced workflow can register here.

Brainstorm will be present at the Virtual Reality stage of the Panasonic stand (Hall 11-Stand C45) showing advanced Augmented Reality (AR) graphics in a special bundle with Panasonic’s AW-UE150W/K camera.

Brainstorm will be present at the Virtual Reality stage of the Panasonic stand (Hall 11-Stand C45) showing advanced Augmented Reality (AR) graphics in a special bundle with Panasonic’s AW-UE150W/K camera. This collaboration at the Panasonic stand will show how InfinitySet, Brainstorm’s advanced virtual set and augmented reality solution, can perform at its best in any AR workflow and environment.

This workflow is the result of the collaboration of Brainstorm and Panasonic in developing the PTZF (Pan, Tilt, Zoom and Focus) tracking data for the AW-UE150W/K camera. Panasonic took advantage of Brainstorm’s extensive experience of more than 25 years in the development of real-time 3D graphics, virtual set and augmented reality solutions to develop a product that allows for creating a comprehensible workflow that brings advanced AR to companies of any size and budget.

According to Héctor Viguer, CTO and COO of Brainstorm, “Our collaboration with Panasonic has been highly successful, demonstrating once again InfinitySet’s openness and ability to interface with any industry-standard protocol. Our presence at the Virtual Reality area at IBC shows how the combination of Panasonic’s AW-UE150 and Brainstorm’s InfinitySet can effortlessly provide amazing AR content that allows broadcasters to significantly enhance their storytelling”.

In combination with InfinitySet, the AW-UE150 is a powerful solution for enhancing storytelling and providing in-context data-driven graphics with ease and full accuracy. At the IBC demonstration, this AR workflow will include automatic tracking of the live performers using Blacktrax tracking beacons to include additional real-time graphics following the artists, further demonstrating the possibilities of AR workflows with additional external tracking data.

Jaume Miró, European Sales Engineer at Panasonic Broadcast & ProAV, said: “Integrating our high end 4K PTZ camera with Virtual and Augmented Reality applications has been a long-term request from our customers. Brainstorm has supported us greatly throughout the development process. Using the UE150 camera with Brainstorm’s InfinitySet is yet another demonstration of our commitment to make the Panasonic PTZ camera range the most effective and easy to integrate on the market.”
