7 questions
1
What is Brainstorm’s broadcast graphics software suite?
Brainstorm offers a complete real-time 3D broadcast graphics and virtual production suite built for live television, comprising three flagship products: InfinitySet (virtual studio and augmented reality system), eStudio (real-time 3D graphics engine and motion graphics platform), and Aston (character generator and newsroom graphics system). Together they power end-to-end graphic workflows — from lower thirds and tickers to full virtual studio environments — trusted by over 2,500 broadcasters in more than 50 countries.
2
What is InfinitySet and what does it do?
InfinitySet is Brainstorm’s virtual studio and augmented reality (AR) system for live broadcast production. It creates photorealistic virtual sets, data-driven AR graphics, and extended reality (XR) environments using real-time rendering. InfinitySet integrates with camera tracking systems to composite talent against virtual backgrounds without a physical studio set. Used by major news networks, sports channels, and entertainment broadcasters worldwide.
3
What is eStudio and how does it differ from InfinitySet?
eStudio is Brainstorm’s real-time 3D graphics engine and motion graphics platform for broadcast. While InfinitySet focuses on virtual studio and AR environments, eStudio is a versatile content creation and playout system for opening titles, lower thirds, animated infographics, data visualizations, and branded full-screen graphics. It features an integrated 3D editor and live data connections. Both products run together as part of a unified workflow.
4
What is Aston and what is it used for?
Aston is Brainstorm’s character generator (CG) and newsroom graphics system for fast, template-driven on-air graphics — lower thirds, headlines, tickers, and election results. It integrates with major NCS/NRCS systems (ENPS, iNews, Octopus) via MOS protocol, letting journalists control on-air graphics directly from editorial tools without a dedicated broadcast operator.
5
Can InfinitySet, eStudio and Aston be used together?
Yes. All three products are designed to work together as an integrated suite — InfinitySet for the virtual studio, eStudio for animated show opens and branded content, and Aston for live lower thirds — sharing assets, templates and data feeds within the same workflow, manageable from a unified control interface.
6
What kind of 3D graphics can I create with Brainstorm software?
Brainstorm supports the full spectrum of real-time broadcast graphics: photorealistic virtual studio sets, AR data overlays, lower thirds, animated show opens and stings, election graphics, sports statistics and data-driven visualizations, LED volume and ICVX backgrounds, and full-screen motion graphics for news and entertainment. All render in real-time via GPU-accelerated 3D engines.
7
What is Edison and what does the Edison ecosystem include?
Edison is Brainstorm’s real-time AR and virtual production system for immersive corporate presentations, training sessions, and live events. At its core is Edison PRO, which transforms any PowerPoint or PDF into a broadcast-quality AR experience with no 3D expertise needed.

The ecosystem includes: EdisonGO (iPhone/iPad app with LIDAR tracking via NDI); Edison OnCloud (cloud subscription, no dedicated workstation required); Edison OnDemand (browser-based remote access); and Edison eDesk (turnkey furniture with camera, lights, chroma fabric, and Stream Deck).

Edison PRO supports Unreal Engine scenes and uses Brainstorm’s patented TrackFree™ technology to generate virtual camera movements from a single fixed camera.

5 questions
8
What is virtual production and how does Brainstorm support it?
Virtual production combines real-time 3D graphics with live camera footage to create photorealistic environments without physical sets. Brainstorm supports it through InfinitySet — integrating camera tracking, real-time compositing, and photorealistic 3D rendering to place talent inside virtual environments for news, sports, entertainment, and film.
9
Does Brainstorm support LED volume and in-camera visual effects (ICVX)?
Yes. Brainstorm InfinitySet supports LED volume productions including ICVX, where high-resolution LED panels display a real-time 3D environment that interacts with the camera’s perspective. Camera tracking ensures the 3D content adjusts in real-time to match the camera’s position and lens, creating realistic in-camera reflections and parallax without post-production compositing.
10
What camera tracking systems are compatible with Brainstorm?
Brainstorm InfinitySet is compatible with a wide range of professional camera tracking systems: optical, inertial, mechanical tracking, and encoders. Supported vendors include Stype (Kalistrack), Mo-Sys (StarTracker), Ncam, Trackmen, Vinten, and others — ensuring integration into existing studio infrastructure without proprietary hardware.
11
Can Brainstorm create augmented reality (AR) graphics for live broadcasts?
Yes. AR for live broadcast is a core capability of InfinitySet. The system overlays 3D AR elements — animated logos, data visualizations, floating text, virtual objects — directly onto a live camera feed in real-time, composited with accurate perspective tracking whether in a studio, on location, or in a sporting venue.
12
Does Brainstorm support remote and cloud-based broadcast productions?
Brainstorm software supports IP-based workflows and remote production configurations. eStudio and InfinitySet can be operated remotely through standard network connections, enabling distributed broadcast workflows. Compatibility & Technical Requirements
5 questions
13
What are the hardware requirements for running Brainstorm software?
Brainstorm software runs on standard PC-based hardware with Microsoft Windows. Recommended spec: professional-grade NVIDIA GPU (Quadro or RTX series), multi-core Intel or AMD processor, minimum 32 GB RAM, and broadcast-grade video I/O via AJA, Blackmagic Design, or Bluefish444 capture cards. Requirements vary by product and graphics complexity.
14
Is Brainstorm compatible with major broadcast switchers and production systems?
Yes. Brainstorm products integrate through standard protocols: NDI, SDI, and HDMI video I/O; GPI/GPO triggers; MOS protocol for newsroom integration; OSC and TCP/IP for automation; and direct integrations with production switchers from Ross Video, Grass Valley, Sony, and Vizrt.
15
Does Brainstorm integrate with newsroom computer systems (NCS/NRCS)?
Yes. Aston integrates natively with major NCS/NRCS systems including ENPS (AP), iNews (Avid), Octopus, and OpenMedia via MOS protocol. Journalists can attach graphics templates to stories in their editorial system, with Aston automatically playing out the correct graphic at the right moment.
16
Can Brainstorm graphics be controlled via automation systems?
Yes. Brainstorm products support automation through multiple interfaces: TCP/IP sockets, GPI/GPO hardware triggers, Open Sound Control (OSC), and dedicated APIs — allowing broadcast automation systems, robotic cameras, and MCR workflows to trigger and control graphics programmatically.
17
Is there a trial or evaluation version of Brainstorm software available?
Brainstorm offers product demonstrations and proof-of-concept evaluations for qualified broadcast professionals. Evaluation licenses can be arranged through Brainstorm’s sales team and authorized resellers. Contact Brainstorm at brainstorm3d.com/contact or through your regional partner.
